Brexit: What it means for Australian, New Zealand, and Canandian Citizens

It is official... the UK has left the EU.

On the 31st January 2020 the United Kingdom formally left the EU. What does this mean for us Aussies, Kiwis and Canadians? Can you still obtain a UK Working Visa? Are the UK Holiday Working Visas still going to be issued? Will the Ancestry Visa stay the same with Brexit?

The answer to those questions is YES!

Australia, New Zealand and Canada will still have the right to live and work in the UK under the exact same visa schemes that have been around for ages. The below UK Working Visas will not be affected in anyway by Brexit:

Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa

Ancestry / Ancestry Dependant

UK Spouse Visa / UK Settlement Visa / UK Family Visa

Tier 4 Student Visa

UK Charity Visa

UK Creative and Sports Visa

Right of Abode

UK Sponsorship Visa

There is talk that UK Working Visas will be easier to obtain towards the end of December 2020 and that the UK are highly interested in trying to grab more Australian, New Zealand, and Canadian skilled workers. This would be a fantastic opportunity if it does come to fruition.

So, if you are planning that Gap Year or to live and work in the UK, you still can, there are no changes to the rules or policies, especially the working holiday visa - Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa for Australians, New Zealand or Canadians. It's still a perfect time to travel, explore, work and live in the UK!
