UK Tier 2 Sponsorship Visa Dependant
Tier 2 (General) visas are designed to allow skilled workers to come to the UK to fill a gap in the local labour market. Applicants must have a job offer in the UK and be sponsored by a company which is registered with the Home Office.
Your family members (‘dependants’) can apply to join or accompany you to the UK. Your family members must each apply separately for a dependent visa if they’re from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.
Family Members:A ‘dependant’ is any of the following:
- Your husband, wife or partner;
- Your child under 18;
- Your child over 18 if they’re currently in the UK as a dependant.
You must show that your dependants can be supported while they’re in the UK.
Each dependant must have £630 available to them whether they apply with you or separately. This is in addition to the £945 you must have to support yourself.
You must have proof you have the money, and that it’s been in your bank account or your dependant’s bank account for at least 90 days before you or they apply.
Example: You must have £2,205 if you want to bring your partner and one child with you to the UK (£945 to support yourself plus £630 for your partner and £630 for your child).
You won’t need evidence of your savings if you have a:
- Fully approved (‘A-rated’) sponsor;
- Certificate of sponsorship stating that your sponsor will give each of your dependants at least £630 to cover their costs for a month if they need it.

Please note that in Brisbane, Canberra and Perth, you will be required to pay an additional surcharge for your biometric appointment of $105.
For Canadian applicants, an additional surcharge of US$100 is applicable to any biometric appointment. We will discuss these fees with you in advance of your appointment, based on your appointment location in your home country.
Effective 28th November 2018
All Australian, New Zealand and Canadian citizens will be provided with full access to the National Health Service (NHS) for the entire term of their visa. This will grant you full rights to the health services that everyday UK citizens get, including visits to the doctor and the hospital, and access to prescription medications at the same prices.
A health service surcharge of £200 per year for the duration of your visa is payable at the time of purchasing the Tier 2 Dependant Visa. This fee will cover you for the entirety of your visa, whenever you may choose to use it.
When you arrive in the UK and receive your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card, just show the card at appropriate NHS locations to gain access to one of the best healthcare systems in the world.
If you make a mistake on your visa application or unknowingly fail to provide the correct supporting documentation, your application will be refused, and UKVI will not refund your visa fee. Restless World’s experienced staff have an in-depth knowledge of UK visa categories as well as processes and will ensure that your application is a successful one.
*All refunds are assessed on a case by case basis. Visas rejected based on past criminal records, previous refusals or any undisclosed information relevant to your application are not eligible for a refund from Restless World. We reserve the right to waive the no visa = no fee guarantee should your circumstances warrant it, but this will be agreed in writing before progressing with your application.
**All applicants are required to disclose any/all past criminal and/or serious traffic related offences and previous visa refusals for any country. Failure to disclose this information could lead to your application being rejected by the UK Visas and Immigration and could lead to a subsequent 10-year ban. Restless World cannot be held responsible for rejections or bans imposed by the UK Visas and Immigration on account of undisclosed information.
