Gap Adventures
Gap Adventures has specialized in sustainable adventure travel since 1990 with a focus on cultural journeys and wildlife encounters. In 1990 Bruce Poon Tip launched Gap Adventures with the belief that other travellers would share his desire to experience authentic adventures in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Their passion is to take you off the beaten track into the heart of the destination and create lasting travel memories.
If you share their lust for life and curiosity for culture, they invite you to explore the wide selection of adventure tours, family vacations, and small ship cruises.
Over 85,000 travellers experience the real world with them every year. What hasn’t changed is their passion for making sure you get behind the scenes to experience the real world in an authentic and sustainable manner.
Gap Adventures are The Great Adventure People - welcome to a world of adventure travel!
What’s your Gap Adventures Travel Style?
Gap Adventures have an array of different styles to suit everyone; some of you love squeezing onto the local chicken bus in Guatemala where others would prefer a private, air-conditioned van. They recognize that you have different travel preferences and budgets, so we’ve built a style for anyone who wants to add a little adventure to their holidays.
Active
This has to beat the treadmill at the gym! Their range of Active trips adds the thrill of a physical challenge to your holiday. So if you like nothing more than hitting the trail at sunrise, peddling along mountain passes or kayaking along fast flowing rivers, then Active adventures are just what you’re looking for.

Classic
The Classic Gap Adventures trip is all about immersing yourself in the local culture and truly experiencing a destination. Whether that’s through interacting with the communities you visit, seeing amazing and unique wildlife up close, or just getting out there and taking in the great outdoors.

Comfort
By day, dart around markets, explore the heritage sites and hike through the jungle to discover rare flora and fauna; by night, cozy up in a comfy bed or have a nice dinner with your new found friends. Authentic experience doesn’t have to mean sacrificing a good night’s sleep.

Overland
Get back to some old-school adventure travel and hit the open road in one of their all purpose overland trucks. Gap’s trips provide the best of both worlds. Stay in hotels and enjoy the cities and towns, while roughing it on the road in an overland truck.

ROAM
I love to dive head first into culture and amazing experiences. Whether it’s sleeping on the bamboo floor in a longhouse in Borneo or jumping on the back of a camel to get from A to B, I thrive on this stuff. I live and travel like a local. I stay in simple guesthouses, travel on local buses, trains or just about anything that moves. I count my pennies because I know the more money I save means the longer I get to travel.

Volunteer
Volunteer adventures have been designed as a way to give even more back to the communities and regions we visit. Gap Adventures travellers can make a direct and very real difference to their quality of life for local communities. The benefits to you are even greater cultural immersion, more time in the community and the ability to take a hands-on approach to bringing about positive changes.
