Countdown

Only two working days, one weekend and a few hours until my flight departs to the UK and I’m still
organising myself. I’m not sure if I am disorganised or just feel that way but I’m sure there’s still so
much to do and too little time.

January seems to have flown by which may have something to do with all the catch-ups, farewells
and birthday celebrations I enjoyed however, there are only a few days left and I’m sure I won’t get
everything done.

I couldn’t sleep on Monday night as I had the sudden realisation that this is my last week in Aussie
land, the next day would be Australia Day (hope you all had a good one) - a public holiday and I still
hadn’t finished my paperwork so the Restless gang could organise all things UK for me.
Added to my worries was a dose of guilt that my tardiness would put the Restless staff under
pressure. The guilt did the trick so on Australia Day 2010 what did I do? I ticked off all things on my
Restless list; completed forms for my UK mobile phone, NI number, money transfer and emailed
them through. Oh yeah, I also had the traditional beer and BBQ to celebrate the day.

This morning I had a cheery phone call from my Restless buddy to tell me everything’s organised and
wish me a safe journey. My apologies for tardiness were dismissed as unnecessary and she even
reassured me that I will in fact get all my other tasks done before I leave.
She is a woman of great faith!

Her cheeriness has eased my worries and inspired me to get a move on and sort my accumulated
souvenirs, excess (summer) clothing and anything else my parents find cluttering their house so that
I may feel organised by the time I leave.
My only disappointment with Restless so far is that I can’t convince them to come around and do
these tasks for me as well.

I have at least, packed my bag so that’s ready to go and as usual, heavier than I’d like it to be but just
within the weight limit. Winter clothes take up way too much room and I’m not even going to
mention the weight of boots fit for snow.

Speaking of snow, I hope you all enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer – next time you hear from
me I’ll be in the UK wearing my thermal underwear.
