BHC IT Upgrade Will Cause Delays to Visa Applications in January 2010

Up to a two week delay can be expected for the processing of all visa applications submitted at the end of January in 2010 due to an upgrade of the UK Border Agency’s IT systems.  The British High Commission has published the following statement on their website:

“The United Kingdom Border Agency IT systems will be upgraded which will result in an all systems shut down from Friday 29th January 2010 - 03 February 2010 inclusive. We will not be able to process any visa applications during this period.  Applications arriving at the Visa Section after 27th January 2010 will not begin processing until 4 February 2010.  Please take this into consideration when planning your travel and ensure you apply for a visa in plenty of time.  We anticipate that services will be back to normal in the second week of February and we appreciate your understanding in this matter”

It is advisable that you factor in a minimum two week delay when planning the best time to submit your application and it is our recommendation that you submit as early as possible to be on the safe side.
