Born under the water loving sign of Pisces, Marc Garside is an affable Londoner who, as a child, spent rainy days watching old movies and day-dreaming of adventures on tropical islands. His daydreams became reality when he finished Uni and set off on a backpacking adventure through the Middle East, South East Asia, USA, New Zealand and Australia. He funded his three year adventure by occasionally living on as little as a pound a day and doing jobs ranging from grape picking to hotel maintenance. True to his Piscean nature, he became a Padi dive master completing hundreds of dives worldwide and declaring his favorite highlights as diving with manta rays in the Red Sea and shark feeding in Tahiti. Upon returning to the UK Marc worked in the contract recruitment arena placing Aussie and Kiwi accountants into temp roles with London financial institutions. When the recruitment firm expanded to Sydney, Marc seized the opportunity to relocate to the sunny climate and laid back lifestyle of Australia. He continued finding contract work for backpackers, only now they were British and Irish. Marc’s love of the backpacking travel industry has now manifested in digital form as Restless World, an online meeting place for Aussies and Kiwis to connect, organise visas, jobs and accommodation in the UK. He plans to develop Restless into an online community of smart travellers who want to find and share quality information, advice and services. Meanwhile, this Piscean adventure lover still loves to travel, enjoys spending time with his young daughter, snorkeling at his local beach in Sydney and, when he gets the chance, racing yachts on Sydney Harbour.
